Mission

The Michaux Conservancy, established in 2003, is an environmental organization located in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Our mission is to teach people how natural ecosystems work and benefit human health.

We use the Noisette Creek Preserve and the Michaux Center for Urban Coastal Ecosystems to achieve our goals of:

  • Reconnecting the local population with nature

  • Creating an outdoor classroom and research laboratory for students and the community

  • Motivating students and families to become long-term stewards of the environment

  • Inspiring students to pursue careers in the sciences

  • Restoring marsh and upland habitats while creating a more “walkable” North Charleston by linking sidewalks to trails
